The Production Printing Business Group (PPBG) of Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced the continuation of its strategic relationship with Kodak’s Print On-Demand Solutions Group. The implementation of the new CREO C-81 Color Server with the RICOH® Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition is the next evolution of this relationship. Ricoh’s new Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition will offer CREO’s Color Controller C-81, which will provide open connectivity to digital workflows, putting the power of an existing PRINERGY Digital Workflow System within Ricoh products.

CREO Color Servers feature color consistency, powerful processing, and compatibility across all avenues of printing. The Color Controller C-81, which features built-in qualities such as SMS and email notification, support for the ADOBE PDF Print Engine 2, and JDF connectivity for integration within Graphic Arts workflows, will help customers increase productivity and improve flexibility while continuing to boost profits.

The CREO C-81, which also offers a fast learning curve for immediate use and error reduction, out-of-the-box color and image control, market-leading document printing features and advanced built-in Variable Data Printing (VDP) capabilities, will be unveiled with the new Ricoh Pro C901/C901S Graphic Arts Edition during GRAPH EXPO at the Ricoh booth, # 2017. Full availability of the new CREO C-81 Color Controller will begin in early first quarter, 2011.

The Production Printing Business Group (PPBG) of Ricoh Americas Corporation and EFI™ (Nasdaq: EFII), a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today launched two new high performance Fiery® servers for the Ricoh Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition. These servers target a wide range of production printing environments from light production to extreme printing environments where advanced color management, high productivity and speed are critical to ensure success. In particular, the new Fiery E-41 and E-81 are ideal mission-critical printing solutions that handle the most complex printing jobs. Both systems offer the latest advancements from EFI in both hardware and new System 9 software, while the E-81 based on the Fiery QX100 platform offers an advantage, both in horsepower and standard configuration.

The Production Printing Business Group (PPBG) of Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced today the official launch of the RICOH® Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition, an advanced digital color production press designed specifically for professional production printing. Ricoh will be showcasing the Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition at GRAPH EXPO from October 3-6 at the McCormick Place South in Chicago (booth #2017). The Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition expands Ricoh’s production color product portfolio, building on the highly successful Ricoh Pro C900/C900s.

The RICOH® Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition brings enhanced print quality, reliability, and substrate handling capabilities to the mid-production graphic communication market. The C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition is equipped with new technologies which enable high-quality imaging on a wide range of media at maximum output speed. Rated at a speed of 90-pages-per-minute, or 5,400 pages-per-hour, the Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition offers near-offset quality results with Ricoh’s PxP™ chemical toners and oil-less fusing technology, as well as consistent image quality with advanced image stabilization, single direction development, mechanical paper registration, enhanced fusing technologies, and automatic calibration.

The system will have several powerful server based controllers that customers can choose from to drive the Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition. Available at the time of launch, customers can select the Fiery EFI E-41 or Fiery EFI E-81. In addition, the Creo C-81 will be available shortly after launch. These controllers are all robust and feature rich, and provide customers an array of options that best suit their workflow. In addition, users will have preset and custom media settings available via a new Paper Library feature. The combination of powerful controllers and the new Paper Library provide improved operational efficiency, and ease of use.

The Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition operates at peak efficiency with Trained Customer Replaceable Units (TCRUs) that maximize system uptime by allowing customers to replace key components when most convenient. To further enhance productivity and reduce TCO (total cost of ownership), the Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition comes with long-lasting consumables and toner bottles that can be replaced while the system is in operation, thus minimizing production disruptions.

With built-in features such as Air-Assist technology, the RICOH Pro C901s Graphic Arts Edition provides reliable feeding of media sizes from 5.5” x 8.5” to 13” x 19”, and up to a weight of 300gsm, even in duplex mode. Additionally, the Pro C901s Graphic Arts Edition adds integrated full-color scanning, copying and document storage to meet image capture and print-on-demand requirements. A high speed full-color scanner captures hardcopy originals for copying, editing, storage or electronic document distribution. The Automatic Document Feeder scans stacks of images as fast as 75 originals per minute in full-color, grayscale or black and white which enables users to control file size and image quality for every application.

The Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition can also come with Ricoh TotalFlow Solutions that provide multi-channel marketing services. Print service providers today need the ability to offer on-line, mobile and social media solutions, as well as high quality color print. To help address this requirement, Ricoh has teamed with Printable Technologies Inc. to offer solution bundles with the C901/C901s Graphic Arts Edition consisting of hosted software and professional services fully supported by Ricoh’s Production Printing Business Group.
